The author evidently can't decide if he wants Bentworth, his protagonist to be a cop or a PI, he keeps killing off main characters and Stanley (Bentworth) just keeps drinking himself into bad situations. All in all Bentworth just isn't likeable enough to keep reading. Ever since Robert Parker died I've been looking for an author and a PI series that would measure up to Parker's Spencer detective series. If that's you then you won't like Al Stevens much at all.Product details

I have read all these Stanley Bentworth novels on my ereader. They are clever and humorous. They are quick and easy reads. Can't wait for the next one.

I loved the whole series
This series is easy to read, enjoyable characters, and I'm looking forward to reading more from Mr. Stevens.
Just plain great. Sanford and Stan are quite the team as usual. Escapism at it best. I have read them all and waiting for the next one.
The Stanley Bentworth mysteries are very good and keep you reading. The only problem I have with Al Stevens' books is the cost. Each of them is $3.99 and I cannot afford to buy books I can read in a day and pay that much for them. Joyce
Yes, it was the same old story - the same like able old detective with the same bad habits solving the same old kind of mysteries. But of course when it's Stan Bentworth with the same old quirky characters he either meets or works with, the reader is only too happy. The same old story turns out to be just as entertaining as the rest of his stories.
